Before my daughter was born, I had read an article that highly suggested things to engage the unborn with. Things like reading, singing, being happy and creating a world before birth. Me being the optimist, thought “what would it hurt”? So regularly I would read books, play the violin and piano, recite poems and sing.

The day our daughter was born was a great day. After a few weeks of being home, I began to notice her eyes were not focusing well. My in-laws said, not to worry, things will be alright. A few weeks later, no changes had occurred. The doctor examined her and he was somewhat concerned, therefore scheduling us to see an eye specialist.

Several weeks later numerous family members accommodated us to the specialist office. The physician gave his report – saying there’s no hope for her vision because the optic nerve didn’t develop. Wow, is this true, why didn’t her optic nerves develop? I immediately sought a second and third opinion. My husband and I researched as much as we could and engaged with organizations of support for infants born disabled.

Our regular routine became marathon activities. We must do all we can to help our daughter. Our entire family was now experiencing a totally new occurrence and all were on board with suggestions and looking for answers and cures. My aunt would come to visit and pray with us and said “don’t worry about this baby, whatever the Lord makes is perfect” We finally were scheduled with a clinic that could actually test babies visual acuity. She was 12 weeks old, couldn’t talk or walk, but she’s our bundle of joy, how is this testing accurate?

I was instructed to hold her in my lap, the lights were dim and a series of animals was shown on the wall in front of us. After the completion of the testing, the specialist said “ ok, she isn’t blind, not the best vision, she’s very young and things still can get better, she has “low vision” which is 20/500. The specialist continued by saying we can help her. With that being said, my family was ecstatic with that uplifting report. Initially the previous two doctors, eyes didn’t see the vision that this doctor saw. My husband replied this baby is going to grow up and change the way we see things.

We continued to read, sing, play music for our daughter. One morning I was reciting the 23 Psalms. The lord is my Shepherd I shall not want, she looked at me and repeated what I said. So I went to the next sentence, she repeated that. I continued to read each new sentence and she continued to repeat them. She continued to watch Sesame Street, a few hours later, I asked her to recite the 23 Psalm, she recited it correctly.

I phoned my mom, she could hear the joy in my voice, I told her what was happening. She listened over the phone and she too was overjoyed. Within the hour numerous family members phoned to hear this three-year-old child, recite the entire 23 Psalm. When my husband arrived home from work, he saw the happiness on our faces. I blurted out loud, “babe, Eryn can recite the entire 23 Psalm.” We were happy, we thought her writing her name at two years old was a treat. I reminded her dad, that before she was born we would read, sing, and educate her. I think there is some truth in that article we read giving instructions on educating your baby before birth.

Stay tuned for next weeks article on ways to improve your child’s creativity with positivity and other invigorating ideas.

Flex Your Vocal Chords

When I was young and bored my school had a singing group. We would usually start the morning off in song. Throughout school and into adulthood I always participated with a group of singers, usually in the church choir. Singing can be very therapeutic and creative in adding your unique voice to the selections.

Get The Kiddos Involved

As the season began to change, the children are inside and the boredom began to set in. How about letting them help with the cooking, if they are young, start out by letting them add an ingredient to the meal. They will like to crack the egg into the bowl, (get the shells out before mixing it with the other ingredients, lol,) allow them to add the milk into the cake recipe etc. 40 Fun Activities to Do With Your Kids – DIY Kids Crafts and GamesGood Housekeeping › craft-ideas › how-to. On your mark GET SET ready GO

Socrates wrote “ it is a shame for man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.”

Let’s get started with —-Get Set Energy Blender —-ingredients: one half-peeled banana, 3/4 cup of 1% milk, 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 6 oz.container of yogurt and 3/4 cup of ice. In a blender mix all the ingredients together.

Stretching is super important to getting started before exercising. You’ve just finished your Get Set Energy Blender,

hopefully you’re feeling well and ready to go.

How to get Started on Exercising:(Ejercicio)

• Break down your walking of 150 minutes per week to goals that’s realistic for you. Perhaps it would be 30 minute walks at least five times a week.

• For those who prefer running which is more vigorous than walking, the standard is 75 minutes each week. It’s good if you can do three 25 minutes sessions per week for an ideal goal.

• There were days I mixed and matched my exercise routine , such as walking 15 minutes to the Starbucks and back. (5×30 minutes =150 min)

• Several weeks into my routine, I’d run on Tuesdays/Thursdays/ and Sundays for at least 2 – 3 miles ( 3×25 minutes = 75 vigorous min)

For those who enjoy riding your bicycle try a 30 min ride on Tuesday. Perhaps a 45 minute (moderate) swimming class on Wednesday and choose cycling, hiking , on Saturday. Do your gardening, yard work, etc, for ( 30+45+30+the gardening and yard work for and hour) ; your total = 165 moderate minute This is a guideline that was very effective in my weight lose goals. I pray that all will be effective for you in preserving your body and reaching your utmost expectations.

Exercise is good for your mood and making life choices and decisions. Every night I would listen to different recordings on being motivated.. Motivation is a key factor in exercising. It’s that “it factor “ that get you moving. Listening to your favorite music etc. whatever your “IT” is use it to get you motivated. Each morning , I would always read a quote, scripture, devotional, anything positive will do. Create the vision of what goals you have set and truly believe in them ; put in the physical exercise listed above , and watch what happens. It will be amazing, and its supercalifragilistic

IS there a QUEEN in the house ?

“A woman is like a tea bag- you can’t tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water”. -Eleanor Roosevelt.

The above quote is from Anna Eleanor Roosevelt, the wife of the 32nd President of the United States of America.

This article is written for all the girls who are little princesses. This article is for the princesses who remain that and those who are becoming queens. It’s exploring the healthy mentality of being all that you can be and traits that are beneficial to being “it”. Have you recognized your inner self and being comfortable with “it”? Who do you believe you are? Who do you really believe you are ?

In a recent blog I wrote an article entitled BELIEVE IN..again. I made references to the classic movie , “The Wizard of Oz.” Dorothy was a young lady who became separated from her familiar surroundings from a terrible storm and had to find her way back home. Think back in earlier years of your life, when you had a vivid imagination. Perhaps , you were three or four years old and you believed you could be Cinderella. You believed that Santa would bring all the toys you dreamt about, or you could eat the entire bag of chocolate kisses,or no concept of why you fell asleep however thinking you could play in the sand box forever. Imagine how you thought about counting the stars in the sky at night or catching fireflies or wondering why you couldn’t fly like a bird, swim like a fish, or out run a lioness. As you grew up , did you ask yourself are these things possible if you look at “it” again.?

The word “it” is used to represent an inanimate thing understood, previously mentioned, or about to be mentioned.

What is “it” that defines you? Do you believe “it?” To believe is to accept something as true. The fairy tail story, Cinderella had a rough beginning with her step mother and step sisters after the death of her father. She was reduced to being the servant for the family, cooking , cleaning, scrubbing floors and the chores no one else was required to do. As the story unfolds she becomes the princess at the ball. I’m sure she had dreams of getting beyond the servitude role, dreams of meeting a Prince Charming, and endless kisses. Perhaps her dreams of greatness was her nightly lullabies. Were their thoughts of escaping into the sky and flying over the rainbow or imaging herself a Triggerfish ( often regarded as one of the most intelligent fishes around) ? Did she ever foresee this ending, was it per chance she went from the pit to the palace, did she believe she could be “it” a queen? Is there a Queen in the House? What are your desires and how are you preparing for “it”?

Eleanor Roosevelt can be compared to the folk tale Cinderella. Both lost their parents at an early age. Eleanor was sent to London to study and became very fluent in French and advocating for women issues and rights. She was very proactive with “it”. Is there a Queen in the House ? It has been said that her life was complicated , with a disruptive mother in law , a cheating and paralytic stricken husband, a public life and appearance of wellness to keep together. Wow, this is a lot on her plate , not to mention that she was a mother of six children.

Being a queen is beyond full time duties. It’s a “supercalifrgilticespialidocious” life. Yes , from your earliest existence the making of a queen has existed. All your treatment has aided in the development of queenship. When your dad gave you gifts, was kind to you, talked and communicated in “princess talk”, being loving and complimentary to you. All of these things are ingredients needed in the making of a queen.

I remember when I was 11 years old, I baked my first cake, all by myself. I thought I had all the ingredients for the cake. I baked my cake and it flopped. It looked like a pancake . My older sisters laughed and refused to taste any of it. My mom told me to add strawberries on top of it, she said that would make it pretty. I was so sad that no one wanted my cake . My dad came into the kitchen to see what all the chatter was about, once he realized what was happening , he sliced the cake and ate it. He said it was delicious and ate another slice. All his actions were creating a Queen for the future.

Is there a Queen in the House? If you are : Quintessential- exuding the pure essence of your being. Ubiquitous- existing or being everywhere . Empowered -give someone the authority or power to do something. Exquisite- elegant, extraordinary, fine,y done or made. Necessary- achieved or present, needed, essential. Then without any doubt, you are the queen in your house. Keep being magnificent, because there are princesses watching you, which will grow to be queens.

What’s a Woman to do?

What’s a Woman to do ?

Ruth 1:20

“Don’t call me Naomi, ” she told them. “Call me Mara, because the Almighty has made my life very bitter. 21 I went away full, but the LORD has brought me back empty. Why call me Naomi? The LORD has afflicted me; the Almighty has brought misfortune upon me.”

This article is for tough people with strong tenacity. This article is for those who have faced doubt but feel like there’s more to the story. If you are a stand up, speak out woman, this article is for you. If your confidence is fleeting(brief, short) and waning (weakened) and you are seeking a solution, this article is for you.

I’ve chosen a few examples to highlight in this article what I think might be inspirational and uplifting.Ruth was a married woman( an adult human female). She was married to Elimelech , a man of Bethlehem-Judah. He moved the family to a foreign land due to famine in their homeland. Their two sons married women of this new land. Later Ruth looses her husband and her two sons and is left with her two daughter-in-laws. She becomes very unhappy. Have you ever experienced disappointment? You feel as if the bottom has dropped from your life. Perhaps you’re facing the illness of a love one, you weren’t selected for your dream job, your health is fading, your prepared item didn’t get the “blue ribbon”, that you expected, your adult child get a dream job but has to relocate miles away from home. What about your 5k run and you sprang your ankle a few feet away from the finish line. All these things can be unexpected and disappointing. Change can be so painful in our lives. Many of us want to hold on to what we think is good , and can’t conceive the idea that change is inevitable. Where would our world be without the invention of the wheel, electricity, bridges, automobiles, medicine, and evolution?

What’s a Woman to do?

Ruth’s life had many twist and turns she went from Ruth which means (pleasant) to Mara, meaning (bitter). Have you had any Ruth moments are having them? Has anything happened in your life so horrific that you want to change your name to reflect your emotions? I hope you seek an avenue of renewal and restoration and don’t let go of your faith. In this life things are only temporary. While we’re going thru our valley ( low point in life ) or even our mountain ( high point) all things are only temporary.

What’s a Woman to do?

Below are some resources to enlighten and encourage you on days when you feel hopeless and need a hand up. We all fall down but it’s not the falling down that defines us , it’s the strength and determination to move beyond the fall.

Think about this:

Guide to GROWING the brain

No WAIT to losing WEIGHT

A Fine Finishing Touch

A Fine Finishing Touch

John 19:30 (KJV) When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

I’ve been writing blogs on my website regularly since the beginning of this year. It has been super challenging to keep it going. There were days it seemed as if I wasn’t going to have an article to share on the site. With the help of my daughter, coaching and working with me to keep on task , I’ve persevered. Often times, after working over 50 hours a week at my regular job, assisting with my volunteer services, and all the other numerous commitments, It seemed like I wasn’t going to finish my articles for that week. My daughter would remind me that “ mom, you must finish what you started you required that from us, so I’ll tell it to you now.”

I’m writing this article for those who have started things and didn’t finish what you started. I’m bringing encouragement to those who need a little extra push. This article is for those who need guidance on getting started with your project. It is important to know that finishing is important because it helps you to learn a process. You might go back and rework something but if you never completed it how would you know what to rework or improve? It’s beneficial to know the importance of finishing something because it separates you from the masses of people who do not finish things. I’m offering some tips and tools that have helped me complete two books that are available on Amazon.

The message I’m conveying is finish what you start, even if it’s perfecting it later. Below are some tips on having a fine finishing touch.

How to finish what you start.

I’ll start out with an article I’ve written on working the most important organ in your body. Everything we do, involves the brain. It is so important for us to respect the brain by treating it well. The foods and exercise choices are vital to our brains survival. Click here:

Make a plan. ( Who,what, when, where, and how) Ask yourself these important questions and plan each step. Example, you want to make pecan pies for a bake sale. Who (work site) What (pecan pie) When (12/11) Where (break room) How meet with women’s committee for further instructions .

Look at your time line, get a calendar and write down your finishing date. I highly recommend the planner Slay your goals. It is super important that you keep a written timeline to remind you of your successful finishing of your plan. Pick an achievable date.

Impress yourself by completing (fine finishing touch) your project timely. This is the date you entered in Slay your goals. Compliment yourself with each step of achievement in this process. This is an important step to realizing that you are capable and worthy of finishing what you’ve started. Example: did you finish your who, what, when, where, and how goals, if yes, compliment that achievement. This prepares the brain to press forward for the next step in the process. Keep up the fine finishing touch.

Be clear about your goals you’ve set and your expectations. In your planner Slay your goals create reasonable Key Performance Indicators or KPI’s. When I started my weight loss challenge my KPI’s were : my starting weight, my percentage of body fat, and my exercise performance. Perhaps this will assist you with setting your goals. At this step remember to celebrate your accomplishment/achievement. This prepares the brain to press forward with the next step. Click here Delayed Doesn’t Denote Denied

Remain focused. This again is emphasizing the importance of seeing your plan from start to finish. You have to concentrate and avoid setbacks and distractions. Get in a sweet spot that promotes your undivided attention. Build alliances with those things that support your mission. Plan to overcome barriers to entry that’s hindering to your finish. Set attainable focusing times for your project. Example if your home space isn’t conducive for your work,it’s to loud, too many people, other distractions ; then perhaps the library is your sweet spot to avoid delays and distractions to finishing your project. Explore the endless possibilities to reducing distractions. Again, once this is satisfied, celebrate your accomplishments.

In the scripture referenced above, John 19:30 (KJV) When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished.” Jesus was saying to his father, I have accomplished the work that you gave me to do. Can you say those words? Have you completed A Fine Finishing Touch on something that you started ? Perhaps you wanted to write a book, improve your health, create a garden, opening a catering service, build a house for the homeless, serve on a committee, volunteer for charity, run a marathon, etc. etc. etc.

If you are an achiever, this is a good time to see your project from start to finish. Our Heavenly Father has given us Philippians 4:13 (KJV) I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. That includes you my friend. That’s authority to go forth with determination and support of Gods word. That’s enough just stated to celebrate in being a doer of the word and knowing we serve a loving God, who is cheering for our victory. Go ahead, you’re not a starter only but you are a finisher as well. Because we’ve been given the example with the life of Jesus, Sayings of Jesus on the cross – …. This was a fine finishing touch that was necessary to recognize by precept and example, that a path has been created for your start and finish in life. Take the challenge, do or be whatever you’ve longed to do. Not only can you start a project/process you can finish what you started. I’m rooting for you.

It’s our hope that at healthyhustleandheart these are useful tools to assist you with fulfilling your goals and dreams. I’ve shared tools that I used in how I finished my weekly devotionals, recipes, videos, T-shirts, book writings, and how to create KPI’s. I am grateful that I’ve been given a purpose and a promise. It’s not easy, but when it’s finished , it’s well worth it. It is my prayer that you like, comment, purchase my books, and tell others about this site. I would love to hear from you with thoughts you have on this and other articles I’ve written.

In the 1990’s Mariah Carey released Always Be My Baby with the lyrics, “We were as one babe For a moment in time. And it seemed everlasting That you would always be mine…..

This article is for you if you’ve ever laughed out loud. This is for all the smiles that life have given you: passing your classes, creating a masterpiece, saying sorry when it’s difficult to do, the new career, graduation, someone tickling you so hard your belly aches. This article is for public speaking that had your nerves on edge, telling someone goodbye, surfing, learning something new, and just being you. More specifically, I am writing to the one who has experienced the farewell of a loved one and remember the laughter, the smiles and have no apologies.

Shortly after Mariah Carey released the above song, I experienced the unexpected death of my 39-year-old husband. In previous months he and I talked about being organ donors. We agreed that yes, that would be a great thing to do.  My husband was a proud University Of North Texas graduate, he would always laugh and smile when he talked about his college life and experiences. He was a correctional officer with the federal government, he would share numerous stories of his life and challenges inside the compound. He was a great husband and father to our two daughters. He would roll around on the floor, chasing the girls around the yard, and when he combed the oldest daughter hair for school, he would laugh out loud himself as well as the neighbors and teachers at the school. He said “ well babe, when I walked into the classroom, the teacher laughed until she cried when she saw Eryn’s hair…  I laughed too and said, my wife has really been helping me, I’m trying to get it by doing it”.

My husband should have been a comedian. When we first met, he was “silly, “ and people were gathered around him listening to his jokes. › comedian jokes › Richard… He soon realized that I would laugh so hard at the comical things he would say, till it became second nature for him to interject comedy into most situations. He would even say funny things at church. One lady was singing her heart out in the choir, he put his hands over his ears and said, “ who told her to do that,“ please babe, “someone needs to stop her, she’s hurting everyone in here.”  We were at the altar on our knees praying, and the pastor prayed so long, he turned around and sat on his rear end and said: “Lord, help my poor knees to stop hurting.”  He often said, “you have to laugh, it keeps your heart smiling, people take life too serious.”

Are you taking life too seriously?  Can you stop sometimes and laugh out loud, go ahead, it might be the icebreaker you need.  Do small things become huge things, have you not smiled lately, are you over-committed, can you find a path to happiness?  When my husband passed away, I didn’t think that I could go on.  I thought we would grow old together and have many memories to share with our families. I didn’t have a job and didn’t know how I would support our children. I didn’t have a laugh or smile and was being asked “ when do you want to ( pull the plug ), he has no brain activity from an Aneurysm.

Then the next question was would you consider being an organ donor? I immediately said yes. Previous months we had talked about it; therefore the decision was made, I wanted to carry out his wishes. His mother strongly objected and said “absolutely no way, will my son’s organs be removed.” After fighting my way thru this decision, I signed the donor papers and felt that by donating his organs, he would live forever thru giving life to others.  I am a life-gift Ambassador who guide and educate others on this journey and path of life.  This decision has kept many smiles on my face when someone’s life is more complete and healthy. This decision has put me in touch with beneficiaries of organs which didn’t have much laughter in their lives. This decision has given me more laughter, more smiles and no apologies for giving life more abundantly. My laughs and my smiles, has been the result of my faith and being a Proverb 31:25 woman. My clothes are strength, dignity and no apologies.
