To be a good ball player, you have to know the rules. “During baseball’s early days, particularly in the late 19th century, when rules changed almost yearly, often significantly. The game as we know it today really only began to take shape in the late 1880s, and even after that, many significant rule changes were made during the rest of that century.”

In 1857, under the Knickerbocker Rules which governed until 1872, the current 9-inning format was adopted, replacing the previous rule that the first team to score 21 runs won. The next year called strikes were recognized, and a batter was out if a ball, fair or foul, was caught on the fly or after one bounce. In 1867.” The National League formed in 1876. Its rules changed almost yearly for the next quarter century. In 1880, a batter was out if the catcher caught the third strike; otherwise, the batter got four strikes. Before 1883, pitchers were required to deliver pitches with their hand below their hips; in that year, the rule was changed to allow shoulder-high deliveries. In 1885, the rules changed, until 1893, to allow bats to be flat on one side; beginning in 1893, they had to be round. In 1887, the rules changed so that batters could no longer call for a pitch; and the strike zone was defined as from the shoulders to the knees. During this period, the pitcher’s mound was much closer to home plate, foul balls were not counted as strikes, batters got four strikes, and the number of “called balls” resulting in a walk—which initially included strikes and foul balls- went from 9 to 8 to 7 to 6 to 5 and, in 1889, to 4. In that same year, the number of strikes went from 4 to 3. In 1894, foul bunts were made strikes, and the infield fly rule was adopted with one out. In 1895, foul tips were made strikes, but not foul balls. In 1898, the first modern balk rule was adopted, as well as the modern rule for recognizing stolen bases. In 1901, the infield fly rule was extended to apply when there were no outs.

In 1903, the American League adopted the foul strike rule. In 1907, the sacrifice fly rule was adopted. In 1910, cork centers were added to balls. In 1925, the minimum distance for a home run was made 250 feet. s. In 1961, the 162-game schedule was adopted. In 1969, the pitcher’s mound dropped five inches and the strike zone reduced: from the armpits to the top of the knees. In 1973, the American League adopted the designated hitter rule—rejected to this day by the National League. (Ref.https:/www.baseball reference.com/boxes/SLN/SLN195209280.shtml). Here are suggested ways to hit your home run.

Picket Line / Strike Line , are organized established boundaries with emphasis on a protest. Self determination, confidence and financial strength are ways you can self invest and hit some home runs. Wages, salaries, pensions, retirement, temporary work and /or permanent work, let’s make it a home run.

It’s time to grip the bat with both hands. Hold it up high and in front of you. Plant your legs on solid ground, resting on the balls of your feet and relax your elbows and knees . Yeah, just like that. Now, point your eyes on the prize and stay in step with your prize. Knowing the rules of the game is super important, just like in baseball. You have to be current and not use outdated information to win the battle.

Wages and Salaries: wages are a variable amount of compensation, based on the number of hours spent to complete a certain amount of work. Salary: is a fixed amount of earned compensation paid for the performance of an employee. According to Investopedia : “As an hourly employee, you are paid for all of the hours you work. If an employer wants more of your time, they have to pay you more. Legal overtime is time and a half; some employers may pay double time for holidays, but that isn’t mandatory unless it’s part of a contract that covers your job. If you’re in a well-compensated field with lots of overtime, you could bring home more than if you earned the same official pay on a salaried basis.” With a salaried individual, Salaried employees received a fixed wage, but they must keep up with their responsibilities and complete necessary tasks—even if that means working extra hours.

Be wise with your wages and salaries. Be that great self slugger. Be an all time self starter and invest in you. If not you, do it for your love ones. Don’t allow your working years to slip through the cracks. While this time has been allotted, hit a home run. Start practicing on hitting a home run with any down time you have. Your employer has many plans an funds to consider and evaluate for your financial health. Seek useful literature and go on line for information. Information is power. Grab the bat with both hands. Research the rules and opportunities to enhance your game.

According to Wikipedia Baseball is a bat-and-ball game played between two opposing teams who take turns batting and fielding. The game proceeds when a player on the fielding team, called the pitcher, throws a ball which a player on the batting team tries to hit with a bat.

Now is the time to spend some time planning your strategic home run. Take advantage of unplanned opportunities to reinvest in yourself. Just imagine this NO excuses this time. Get with your team and collaborate on ways to be better after the storm is over. Know your plan for all nine innings and have a strategy for a rain delay.

Stay tuned for the continuation of Part 2: pensions, retirement, temporary work and /or permanent work, let’s make it a home run.

What’s a pension, what’s a 401k? Are there any guarantees?

Union mind and STRIKING union Attitude?

Everyone regardless of their status or mental intellect has attitude.

Congratulations brothers and sisters who are picketing.

You have survived a huge milestone and it certainly matters. It matters because of the willingness you’ve shown in standing up for union attitude. It matters because you are a member of the solidarity class. It has been said : International Standard Version Eccl. 9:11

I considered and observed on earth the following: The race doesn’t go to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor food to the wise, nor wealth to the smart, nor recognition to the skilled. Instead, timing and circumstances meet them all.

This article is written for the brothers and sisters who are first time picketers. Many of the legacy supporters are aware of past experiences and tools that were needed and utilized. Legacy workers are those with seniority with the company. This is also written as a refresher article for the legacy workers. It’s my opinion that for one to be successful there has to be rules to succeed. Your success lies in your pride, dignity, and attitude. What’s your union attitude?

Pride is a deep feeling of pleasure derived from ones own achievement. Pride is being confident and having self respect. I’m sure you can think of something you achieved that gave you great pride. Perhaps it was finishing high school, enlisting in the army, building a model airplane, cooking a holiday meal, offering and apology, or standing up for the disabled or buying food to feed the hungry.

Pride and Prejudice is a 1797 novel written by Georgian era author Jane Austen. It’s about wealth and who could posses this wealth. Men were the only inheritors of wealth and if women had wealth it was by marriage. Elizabeth is the main character, who has four sisters whom the mom is seeking marriage for them. Several gentlemen callers approach Elizabeth, however she refrains from accepting their proposal.

In this novel it exams the customs and culture of this era. To be prideful wasn’t a good attribute to have . During this time, If one was proud it was said to “ think that you’re better” than others, and you didn’t interact well with others. Prejudice was thought to have a” preconceived idea”about someone and making assumptions about their character. In today’s terms, pride is a good thing to possess. How does these two words impact your decision making skills?

Dignity is defined as worthy of respect and an honorable rank. It overlaps with pride, as in a sense of dignity and pride of one’s self. For the first time picketers, know who you are and what you represent. To have a dignified union attitude is is to be reminded that you are a part of a family, in so much that you are connected to a group of like minded people. As with family, there should be unity. I’ve observed that the spirit of family shines bright whenever there’s a commonness and connection in purpose. While on the picket line, keep focused on your purpose of why you’re there.

Attitude is how you think towards people, places , things and situations. Having a positive attitude is imperative to getting through difficult and stressful situations. You are a first time picketer, let’s get started. It takes a lot of courage.

1. Build up your confidence by knowing, you can do this.

2. Take care of yourself. Proper diet, clothes, and alertness.

3. Remind yourself, “I’m in for the win.”

4. Stay connected to others, remembering your purpose.

5. Don’t become distracted

6. Keep in mind be enthusiastic

7. Visualize the outcome of why you’re doing this

Integrity is your standards. It’s about the quality state of being unified, whole and undivided. When you have a measure of integrity it’s a conviction of doing the right thing. It’s like what I learned and recited as a child in Sunday School. It was referred to as the golden rule. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” This is necessary while on the picket line. For survivorship and purpose to be realized, high standards must be practiced.

Integrity is necessary for all involved. If everyone has a four hour strike time slot, it’s important that the team adheres to this. What example would a worker be showing if s/he left early from their assignment. Their integrity is called into question and the team has been compromised. Be a person of your word and adhere to the golden rule. Union attitude is that thing that “each one, teach one.” Engage with others and get to know one another.

First time picketers, a word about union attitude and appearance. What is your message? Write it down and make it plain. Displaying your signage is necessary and impactful. It’s what the public sees. Your banners, signage and other messaging items should reflect your cause to action. Be creative as well as direct with what you’re doing.

What you wear speak volumes. Affiliation and perception is half of the battle of the strike. Our clothes reflect a standard and connection to others who are in support of the cause. Our clothes reflect solidarity. Not only is there a commonality with the group and a sense of pride, it also effects the public. It’s effects others by identifying who we are and garners support for our movement to action.

Many years ago, there was a group of workers going to Black Lake, Michigan for training. The group was wearing their union gear, t shirts, jackets and caps. A very visibly panicked sister approached the group, breathing heavy, holding papers and dragging heavy luggage, shouted “ are you all with the union?” Several ladies heard her desperate shout, stopped and said “yes.” The sister sat on her tallest luggage in the middle of the airport floor, to compose herself. She wiped a few tears and said “ I’m here alone, never have been on a union trip, scared and I didn’t know what to do, upon arriving in Detroit.” She said she felt like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, and wishing to be back home. During her despair, she looked up and saw an array of brothers and sisters wearing union clothes and a big smile. She quickly introduced herself to each of us and asked “ can I stay with y’all?” She was so overwhelmed and with emotion and gratitude. We asked her how did she know us, she replied “ from the clothes y’all were wearing .” Needless to say, to this very day we all remain connected and unified. I can’t emphasize the importance of union appearance. What you represent, and the message you echo is being shared with others.

First time strikers, you have arrived. You are here and present. As in the novel Pride and Prejudice, it is a learning experience and proposals could be rejected. It’s also important to know that it carries great value. Remain hopeful and engaging. Welcome to your future, a stage of embarking upon endless possibilities. A stage upon reflections of pride, dignity and attitude. This is a time of life changing commitments, courage and confidence. Proudly wear your badge of integrity as in being unified and undivided. Proudly wear your badge of integrity as in whispering the golden rule during times of uncertainty. Visualize the outcome as in Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, by knowing everything you need lies within you. Now, you have a Union Mind and Striking Attitude. In solidarity forever.

UAW Strike, Can it disappear?

Welcome to Healthy Hustle and Heart.  This site was created to keep the public informed of current trending issues and events.  The “Healthy” aspect is to offer readings, recipes, wellness and overall healthfulness.  The “Hustle” is issues and events that are insightful, immediate and educational.  The “Heart” is inspirational, uplifting, impactful and positive.  If you are seeking anything remotely close to this, you are in the right place, at the right time, reading the right post.

Currently, the United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America, UAW, is on strike.  A strike is a voted upon agreement by an organization to gain concessions from ones employer.  This is also known as a labor strike, which is a collectively bargained agreement voted on by its members in good standing with their union.  The international executive union leadership has the authority to enforce and publicly announce a strike.

Workers can raise many issues which they deem are unfair, under represented and unresolved.  Some of the trending issues with this strike is unfair wages, health benefits and retiree benefits.

IMG_4110

How did we get here :
In late 2008, General Motors was on a downward business model along with Chrysler and facing bankruptcy.   In any business model, bankruptcy isn’t factored into the equation. Once this factor was inevitable, a quick strategy was needed and a viable remedy needed to be birthed.   The United States of America government while President George H.W. Bush was in office started drafting a financial bailout plan to aid the struggling automotive giant.

The sentiment of many people was “ how can a country, with such a rich international automobile influence fail?”  With that being the underlying question and loosing world wide business positioning, perhaps the right move was to save these American icons. This was important to many people, to be that beacon of hope to the world, that in tough times people will show loyalty and solidarity.

In 2009, our newly elected President of the USA Barack Obama, inherited the burden of the automotive industry financial dilemma. How was he going to fix this problem?President Obama’s messaging was “ be the change you want to see”.  That impactful statement resonated with the masses and established the platform for the Big Three (General Motors, Ford Motors and Chrysler) workers to help the company help save their jobs. Ford Motor was the only one of the three not in bankruptcy status. This was the time of hope and “one America” If this statement was said by the President of the USA , then it had to be the gold standard of reforming this industry. This mind set gave the workers a voice, confidence and empowerment, along with the suppliers of these companies. For many workers it seemed right to save their job in hopes of a stronger comeback in the near future. Workers are the most valuable asset, and with that understanding, the workers collectively agreed to numerous concessions.  The Big Three workers were visible and showed enduring presence and solidarity.

Concessions are items that are agreed upon to move forward with negotiations. The government gave a financial bailout,  the Big Three Corporates made internal restructuring changes. The workers made changes;  COLA, Retiree benefits , wage adjustments, (new hires being paid less wages to do the work) plant closings (uprooting their family balance) and combining skill level classifications. Perhaps feeling  confident that the Big Two ( General Motors and Chrysler ) would gain financial momentum , their sacrifice and loyalty would be appreciated and rewarded, because we are “one America.” In the last few years, the Big Two have repaid the government bailout, and have made billions of dollars in profits.  It appears that all of their commitments have been satisfied and finances are at an all time high. The workers are a huge part of the success story that’s woven into these billion dollar companies. Now, the workers have been awaiting their “piece of the pie”,  Isn’t it time to sing, shout and be happy?

IMG_4131

Staying Focused:
The President of the UAW during the Big Three restructuring crisis was Ronald Gettlelfinger.  According to Wikipedia “Gettelfinger is an outspoken advocate for national single-payer health care in the United States. Under Gettelfinger’s leadership, the UAW lobbied for fair trade agreements that included provisions. He opposed any additional worker concessions until the then-current contract expired in 2011.”

In June 2010, Robert Thompson” Bob” King became the newly elected UAW President.  He is a lawyer, leader and labor activist. According to Democracy NOW!  during his presidency and auto bailout, Bob King stated: “We want companies to know two things. One, if you work with our membership, you respect our membership, you give them a voice in the workplace and the decisions, we’re going to help you make the best quality product, the best price. If you’re unfair to workers, you’ve got a — it’s going to cost you a lot of money to not treat workers fairly.”  “ The best business decision is to work with our membership, and that’s what we’re hoping they’ll do.”

In June 2014, Dennis Williams, became the newly elected President of the UAW.  Williams previously served as the union’s Secretary-Treasurer, elected at the UAW’s 35th Constitutional Convention in June 2010. According to uaw.org , Dennis Williams quote regarding solidarity,  “Over the past four years, the UAW has forged a positive path. We have put ourselves in a better position. We have looked death in the eyes during the recession. We have bought our union back to a foundation of fiscal responsibility for our membership and we have fought the fight. And we will continue to do so. Brothers and sisters, we are in solidarity together forever.”

In June 2018, Gary Jones was elected UAW President. Jones previously was the Region 5, Director.  According to autonews.com “We invested in you. Now it’s your turn to invest in us. I’m here to fight for you. Knowing our core values, knowing who we are and knowing what the UAW is about could not be more important than it is today.”

IMG_4138

In Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, with opening lines, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.”

In the referenced Tale of Two Cities, the UAW has faced many challenges and conflicts.  As with any great leader there are qualities that can not be ignored.  Being in harmony and unified in the fight for socio-economic justice. This is in relationship to how one progresses in their society and economy with contributing factors such as education, income and occupation.  Great leaders show creativity, commitment, confidence, and accountability. At some level within the UAW leadership these skills have been evident and should be appreciated.

IMG_4128

Can the strike disappear?
Walter Phillip Reuther was an activist, labor unionist and civil rights advocate, who built the United Automobile Workers into one of the worlds most progressive organizations in US history. He is quoted by uaw.org with “Our membership are the strength of the UAW, and the membership and the families of our members, they are the purpose of the UAW. And in the years ahead, this union must remain true to its commitment to the welfare and the well-being of our rank and file. This union is not about Solidarity House; it is not about your local union headquarters; this union is about the men and women that we represent, and behind them their families.”  (1970 UAW Convention, April 1970)

In modern times a strike consists of union members who walk out of the work site and form a picket line.  The purpose of a picket line is to show outwardly as a tool to persuade workers to not enter the building.  It’s used to represent that workers are in disagreement with their working conditions.  A sit down strike is where the workers remain in the worksite preventing management from entering the building. This style is utilized so “scabs” can’t perform the work of the strikers.  Scabs are workers who willingly work in spite of the strikers refusal to work.

“In 1936, General Motors (GM) was the largest corporation in the world and held many plants in Flint, Michigan, about 60 miles north of Detroit.”  With working conditions becoming progressively intolerable, intervention became necessary. It was “New Year’s Eve, December 31, 1936 when the workers sat down in the plants and refused to leave. General Motors retaliated by turning off the heat in the plant. In solidarity with the Flint strikers, Reuther led a strike at Detroit’s Fleetwood Plant, where bodies were made for GM’s luxury vehicle, the Cadillac. Support strikes were also called in Oakland, California, Pontiac, Michigan and St. Louis, Missouri. Autoworkers around the nation engaged in action in support of the Flint sit-down strikers. “ (See Sit-down strike)

After many days of a hard fought battle , 44 to be exact, General Motors recognized the workers rights and the first collective bargaining agreement was birthed.  This event set the stage for a five year labor contract with exchange of a no strike clause in the agreement. Workers gained better wages, health care benefits, pensions and became new members to the middle class society.  Chrysler workers went on strike for four weeks, Reuther negotiated a successful collective bargained agreement with the UAW. Now, on to Ford Motor.  This was a four year fight. Mr. Ford was steadfast and adamant about his refusal to allow his company to become unionized.  He fought with fervor, and positioned a vigilante team to enforce his decision of no union within his company.  After numerous publicized killings, beatings, and abuse of people, the news media shined a spot light on this abnormality. This practice wasn’t what Ford wanted highlighted, therefore he conceded and the UAW was recognized.

The Big Three became the standard bearer for the world. It hasn’t been easy.  Walter Reuther’s vision along with his brothers (Victor and Roy) and many, many others have made a visible and noticeable impact on collective bargaining. His model has proven successful down through the years.  As each generation faces the challenges of their times, it won’t be an easy fight. However, the vision of our fore workers sacrifices for annual raises, cost of living allowances, health benefits, pension plans, educational accommodations, unemployment benefits, and family work life balance are all necessary.  UAW Strike,  can it disappear?  In the words of the current UAW President -Gary Jones, as he sat across the table from GM CEO Mary Barra,  “We invested in you. Now it’s your turn to invest in us.”  We are the voice of the American worker, the defenders of the middle class.”

The UAW Strike can not disappear.  As in the formative years of a recognized presence, that same spirit is what it will take to succeed.

UAW workers, how to stay healthy during a strike.

According to Encyclopedia Britannica,

“Strike, collective refusal by employees to work under the conditions required by employers. Strikes arise for a number of reasons, though principally in response to economic conditions (defined as an economic strike and meant to improve wages and benefits) or labour practices (intended to improve work conditions). Other strikes can stem from sympathy with other striking unions or from jurisdictional disputes between two unions. Illegal strikes include sit-down strikes, wildcat strikes, and partial strikes (such as slowdowns or sick-ins). Strikes may also be called for purely political reasons (as in the general strike).” What does this mean to workers, families and the community?  As a proud, experienced executive member of the UAW and Chairperson of the Women’s Committee, I have a good grasp of the UAW values. We believe in solidarity.  United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW) believes in economic justice, collective bargaining, job security, educational training, cost of living allowances, employee health/safety insurance and a seat at the table of human rights.

Where do you stand on these issues? Are they important to you? Perhaps you feel as if your concerns aren’t being heard or taken with the seriousness that they should be taken. Perhaps you’ve been a hard worker or know a worker who is seeking economic fairness. Are you seeking job security, has made monumental life changes and decisions in waiting for the American dream of a equal honest day pay for a honest day of work. Are you sacrificing your comfort and risking your health and well being for a multi-billion dollar company, who view you as replaceable and non beneficial? It’s my opinion that when  we all work shoulder to shoulder, arm to arm, that’s where our strength lie. That’s taking a step towards your future and well being.

How to stay healthy during a strike :

1. Take air into the lungs and then expel it, especially as a regular physiological process.

“breathe in through your nose”

2. Take care of your body.  You have to put your health and well being as a top priority.  When you practice self care, then you can assist others.  Have you ever been on an airplane?  When safety instructions are being given, it’s usually stated “ place the air mask on yourself, then assist others”. This is an act of survival and wellness.

3. Eating the proper foods is very necessary.  It’s been said , “ you are what you eat

4. Keeping a calm mind is important. Our inner strength, being more confident, thankfulness , our ability to remain stress less are important during interrupted life challenges.

5. Engage with your community.  Solidarity, was built on a group of like mined individuals, stay involved, don’t isolate yourself, stand together.  Each one teach one.  During these times of uncertainty, being on strike, its important to know with certainty WHO WE ARE and What we are known as.

At the core, labor unions (we) are working men and women, unified as one force. Despite any personal differences that may exist between us, we have banded together to protect and improve the lives of workers. We rise up together for the greater good. We defend one another like family.

Consent To Confidence & Rock Your World.

Consent To Confidence & Rock Your World.

Hi there, I wrote this book to announce to women that they are wonderful. A quote I saw by Eleanor Roosevelt, “ No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” I’m suggesting you read my book, Consent To Confidence & Rock Your World. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RNBNWRW

Each person has their own style and charm. Often times we as women are so bombarded with our daily tasks that we lose our selves and our ability to see how wonderful we truly are. When we get overwhelmed our decision making ability isn’t as sharp and on point. A regular occurrence of self doubt can leave us at a deficit of self confidence. If you deposited, $100 dollars in your bank account and you make daily withdrawals of $20 dollars, after that fifth withdrawal what do you have left? A few pennies in interest if you had a good bank plan, however you soon realize “ I can’t make pennies do dollar jobs.” This is how our confidence can be withdrawn, we’re running too low on confidence deposits.

Ways to increase your confidence. Do not allow a lack of self-confidence to prevent you from living a fulfilling life and accomplish your God-given destiny. Low self-esteem has its origin in fear. Mahatma Gandhi stated “The enemy is fear. We think it is hate; but, it is fear.” Fear os a tool used by the devil to stop you from being effective as a Christian and it manifests as depression, confusion, indecisiveness and lack of faith.

I’m here to introduce an enriching book I’ve just released. If you are seeking biblical references, introspections, “ice breaking” questions for a newly formed group of people, and a plan of action, read this book. This is a great way to examine your life’s plans and began a journey to success. I’ve included relatable stories and how others found their confidence in leading productive lives. I believe that you also can be who you were intended to be, by adding a little more confidence to your life. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RNBNWRW

Your confidence began with small steps, that can lead to larger steps. The hardest decision is removing fear and taking a leap. Is it easy, “no”, however in retrospect I hope you say it was “ worth it.”

Can I count on you to be a confident person, get your copy today and began your journey?

R-E-S-O-L-U-T-I-O-N, welcome to the New Year.  It’s your time to win at weight loss and becoming confident again.

dumbbells-2465478_1280

Let’s start with building up your confidence: confidence- a feeling of self-assurance arising from one’s appreciation of one’s abilities or qualities.  Start within and telling yourself, success in the process is yours for the asking and energy you put into it. Envision yourself crossing the finish line. How happy is that feeling? Was it worth it? Are you more radiant and confident?  Keep that confident feeling as you start with the vision you just created when crossing the finish line to your weight loss goals. Now, let’s begin our journey.

Jeremiah 9:11   For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

The success of this guide is achieved with daily practice and meditations. I highly recommend it if you’re seeking more confidence in your life. If you want to begin a weight management objective but don’t know where to start. If you’ve attempted weight improvement, but you have lost your momentum. This guide is for you if you need to forgive yourself for choices you’ve made and wanted to find a path forward.  Please know that you can always begin, again.

Recommended Steps For Results: The New Resolution For Attracting Weight Loss And Adding Confidence Into Your Life

1. Love yourself – embrace who you are.  Create powerful words and phrases to say to yourself.  Each day and throughout the day, do a reminder to self, “ confidence is good for me, and it is paired with magnificent food choices.”

2. Brighten yourself – look deep inside yourself and identify any darkness that’s holding you captive.  Are there people who are negative or create drama, only keeping your spirit down?  It’s not easy; however you have to remove yourself from those things and people who aren’t a part of your reminder to self,” confidence is good for me, and it is paired with magnificent surroundings.”

3. Reminder to yourself – be sincere and honest.  As you have repeated the reminder to self on a regular basis, is this really what you’re seeking?  Be real to your person and decide on who and what you want.  In your quiet time write or create a vision board of your path to confidence. Imagine the body and healthfulness you want.  Keep this image in your mind and heart as you work out.  You’ll be glad to cross the finish line.

4. Patience with yourself – you should be feeling different at this point.  There should be a sense of guidance and direction.  If you’re not happy with where you are, start over.  It’s important to say that nothing is a one size fit all and know that you can make other choices and go on another path.  Don’t become dismayed if you’re not where you want to be at this point.  Always know, you can customize, modify, and experiment with other choices.

5. Embrace yourself – it’s been said that our thoughts are messages that our hearts hold on to.  As you walk in confidence, it attracts like-mindedness. Light draws more light. One of the best feelings is when another person see your light and runs to embrace it.  Reminder to self- confidence is good for me and it is paired with high strength. Your strength is where your heart is. Keep believing in yourself and appreciating who you are.

6. Highlight yourself – by acknowledging daily gratitude. Since you’ve started this journey how far have you come?  It doesn’t matter how big or how small, be thankful for this experience.

7. Live yourself- forgive yourself – for what you think you’ve done or not done. “At every moment, you had your reasons for all of your actions and decisions. You’ve always done the best that you could do.” ( Doreen Virtue)

With these guided steps you should see your confidence soar.  With these steps, you should be able to go forward with the desires of your heart.  I believe that our level of confidence is an excellent determinant of our successes in life. That’s why I wanted to offer steps to build your self-esteem and improve your confidence. So you want to be a better person, recite the confidence quotes. You’re serious about your health and weight maintenance, a reminder to self,” confidence is good for me, and it is paired with a magnificent spirit .”

The success of this guide is achieved with daily practice and prayer. I highly recommend it for The New Resolution For Attracting Weight Loss And Adding Confidence Into Your Life

Going From Punishment to a Purposeful Plan.

“Someone’s sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago” Warren Buffet, investor.

2Peter 1:2 NIV. 2)- Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord.

Ann, a long-time, child hood friend phoned me. She was excited about being given a career promotion she had long desired. She asked me if I could attend the ceremonial breakfast where her promotion would be announced. I was so excited for her and I could hear the jubilation in her voice.

Ann had recently gone through a lot of life changing occurrences. A few months ago one of our classmates had died from a massive heart attack. A few months afterwards, her mother passed away, then shortly her sister passed suddenly. This was not in her plans to be suffering numerous emotional setbacks, however she persevered.

She asked me to please be in attendance. I didn’t immediately see how I could attend because my job vacation calendar was full for that day. I whispered to myself “God, you have it all under control.” I wanted to desperately be at her award ceremony. She said she wanted a familiar face to be there to support her. She wanted me there because I knew her the longest and knew about the struggles she endured to get to this executive level assignment. She said perhaps you can share a ice breaking moment and oral history about me to the audience.

All day at work I was in a meditative state and being with Ann was so heavy on my mind. I didn’t want to disappoint her. I called my daughter to ask if she could represent me and attend Ann’s promotional ceremony because I was scheduled to work. My daughter said she wasn’t sure, but she would try.

A small incident occurred on my job, that was an honest oversight on my part. I was cautioned to be more observant. I said ok. When I arrived to work the next day, I was punished for the mis-step and given the day off. Oh, Lord, things began to shift and move around right before my eyes. My heart was racing while trying to keep my mind calm. I was witnessing a miracle and in awe of what was happening. I had been praying for several days about Ann’s award breakfast and now the path had been cleared. I quickly and without hesitation exited the building. I walked out singing Amazing Grace , how sweet the sound. I entered my vehicle and began to get my praise on repeating , Thank you Lord. Do you see why I’m happy? Have you ever wanted something and you couldn’t do it on your own ? Have you made mis-steps and others tried to put you in a pit to lower your confidence , value and self esteem? I’m a witness that greater is He that is in you, hold on to your faith.

When we wholeheartedly try to be fair, upright, faithful, and kind we will be rewarded. Granted, I didn’t see the punishment coming, my mind was so engrossed with Ann’s ceremony that I forgot a small detail of my work assignment. However, the door was opened for me to be there for my true friend. Her face was brighter than ten thousand lights when she saw me enter the building. We both were emotional wrecks as we hugged she cried and said “ I knew you would make it” I shook my head in agreement and said “ Girl, I’m here and I have a story to tell you.” I was shortly called to the podium and shared highlights with the audience on how amazing a person my friend truly was.

I went from punishment to a purposeful plan. I’m here to encourage you to believe in a power greater than yourself. The darkest is just before dawn. When going through the darkest moments, hold fast, the dawn will arise. I didn’t foresee, that this day would unfold this way, but God did. It was all grace which is Gods unmerited favor. When we take our desires to the Father, it will be handled appropriately with diligence and due process. That is collecting, understanding, and assessing our situation.

God had established a purposeful plan for Ann and myself that this monumental moment would be shared and our desires fulfilled. Do you have an unexpected situation to share?. We are overcome by our testimonies. Tell your stories because you can go from punishment to purpose. God has our total health, it being mental, spiritual, financial, mindful etc. in his hands. He’s the keeper of our very heart.

Take a moment and be still, where is your life headed ?

Psalm 27:14 Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage: wait for the Lord.

1 Chronicles 16:11 Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually.

2 Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self control.

This article is written for decision makers. This is for those who are seeking biblical guidance in making a life decision. I am writing this weeks article for those who need encouragement, wisdom, and strength . Being in this world we have daily decisions to make and should be seeking a favorable outcome. This article is to shed light on being faithful even though we might veer off course. Keep on believing that miracles happen everyday .

Have you been faced with a decision and you thought you had the answers, only to hear a soft voice in your head say wait. I’ve found it to be some truth in taking a pause or a breath is so important when making decisions. It was once told to me that when you pause, its for protection. Being tied to the Bible is like insurance, its for protection when you need it. The scripture reminds us to wait for the Lord.

Why is seeking the Lords strength continuously a good thing? It’s a good thing because it reminds us that we are never alone. It is reassuring to know that the decision you made to enter school, advocate on others behalf, save money, be creative, innovative, married, single, owning your own business was decided with the strength and comfort of the Almighty. When Gods hand is guiding you, please know that you’re being guided by the best. You’re never alone. Is that a comforting thought to know when faced with major or minor decisions?

When seeking answers for your life and the path to take, ask yourself, what outcome am I seeking? Pray about all things and walk by faith, not by sight. This is one of the ultimate decisions and challenges to make. When you walk by faith, it requires you to follow God and overlook things that get in your way and cause you to second guess your dreams. Walking by faith is believing that victory will be rewarded if you can stay the course. Walking by faith, is when many are going a different direction and you appear to be foolish and uncompromising. Walking my faith was when Jesus said father forgive them, for they know not what they do. It’s knowing that you must hang onto your faith, when the road is rough and the going is tough, when the hills seem hard to climb. Holding on to the Almighty unchanging hand. Do you have what it take not only to be still and dream but to finish what you started.?

Take a moment and be still, where is your life headed? Do you have that can do spirit? The can do spirit of power, love and self control. The spirit of power is the ability to act or produce and effect of authority and influence others. You can with Gods help have the power to change who you are. The spirit of love is a strong feeling of affection. Are you willing to love yourself beyond measure for the betterment of your life’s goals and dreams.? Again, with God all things are possible. Be still, examine where you are and where are you headed? The spirit of self control is controlling ones behavior, especially in difficult situations. Do a daily assessment of where you are and where you’re wanting to be. I’ve given scriptural verses to aid you in a journey of decisions and creating a spirit to succeed. Take a moment and be still. Ready, Set, Go!
