Taste and See!

Psalm 34:8. Taste and see that the Lord is good, blessed, is the one who takes refuge in him.

Years ago a great commercial aired on the television. It was “Little Mikey”, a little boy who was promoting Quaker Oat cereal. Two older brothers didn’t want to taste the “Life” cereal which was promoting a healthy new cereal campaign. Neither boy wanted to be the first one to taste the cereal. Yes, you guessed it, they slide the bowl to Mikey to try and he’s known to “ hate everything “. After Mikey eats a few spoonful of the cereal the boys excitedly shout out “ he likes it” , and they began to taste and eat the cereal .

Have you ever experienced a “Little Mikey” moment or the brothers moment ? What did you do? Often times we look at things and assume it’s not good. We should taste and see before we automatically reject something. Not only do we reject foods, we sometimes reject people. Have you looked at something and immediately rejected it? I’m guilty of this offense. I looked at some black berry cobbler and said “yuck”. I don’t want any of that, the sight was pleasing but I gave it a thumbs down. Several people were getting second and third servings of the cobbler saying, “wow, this is awesome stuff”. I decided to taste it, surprisingly, it was delicious. When you add more taste and sight to your life , it just might be more enjoyable . How can you increase your wealth, by aggressively adding more taste and sight ( imagination) to your life . Let’s give it a sincere and honest make-over.

When I arrived back home, I was curious about the blackberry, so I researched it. Taste and See Surprise Biscuits

3 cups of blackberries 1/2 C of sugar 2 Tbsp lemon juice 1/4 tsp cinnamon.

1 C of cherries 1 Tbsp of cornstarch ( to thicken sauce ) 1 can pillsbury biscuits

Toss rinsed berries and cherries in sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon,and corn starch. Add additional sugar to satisfy your taste , place in a 9×9 baking dish.

Open biscuits and pull apart small pieces of dough and place on top of the berry/cherry mixture. Use all dough and garnish with butter. Place into a preheated oven 350 degrees , let bake for approximately 30 mins, when mixture begin to bubble and biscuits are brown. Remove from oven Let cool Enjoy Top with whipped topping, ice cream or fruits of your imagination.
